A Borrowed Composter

I used to have a really nice compost bin. It was a birthday gift. But then the landscaping crew working across the alley in a neighbor’s yard backed over it. I cobbled it back together, then the City’s garbage crews dragged it away. But with a new garden now in the making, it was time for a new one. So, in the spirit of the borrowed garden, I opted
against going out and buying another fancy composter. Instead, I made one in an hour. Total cost: $12 (though I may soup it up a bit later).

I found the basic plan online… modified based on what I was able to find. A quick spin through Home Depot for big zip-ties and landscape netting, then a spin around back for 5 unused pallets… and you’ve got yourself a compost bin. I must say, it’s a rather large compost bin (my neighbor asked if I was planning on composting bodies:) Looking forward to a long winter of building a compost that will nourish a garden full of spring blooms.
